University of Sunderland has been providing higher education in North East England since 1901. The innovative, accessible and inspirational university has two campuses in Sunderland: the Sir Tom Cowie Sampus by the sea, and the City Campus in Sunderland’s city centre. A third campus has recently been opened in London at Canary Wharf, the heart of Europe’s most important financial centre.

University of Sunderland focuses on access of  student experience to research, finding and keeping close ties to international and industry links. The University is made up of four academic departments known as faculties.

The University of Sunderland’s research was classed as ‘world leading’ in 10 subjects by the latest Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2008). The 10 subjects included: Computer Science, Pharmacy, Environment, Education, Media, English, History, Automotive, Art & Design and Tourism.
